Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 as a way to say Thank you Veterans and demonstrate the gratitude of a Nation to those who serve their country in the armed forces.
Military service represents more than words can convey. Soldiers sign a contract as a formality knowing that it’s not about the contract. A contract is transactional. It benefits the individual.
Volunteering for military service is a covenant—one makes a promise that transforms their identity. The connection, affiliation and rapport are more of a priority than the self.
Most veterans I talk to agree their life was transformed by the covenant they made with the armed forces; including my father, cousin and two brothers. Have you ever talked to a veteran about their service? They are staunchly devoted to their branch of service. Once a Marine, always a Marine is what they say.
The biggest jobs are about contracts and money. Military service is about covenants and human life.
Thank you Veterans!
