Today’s Coaching: To continually grow we must renew, replenish, sharpen and reenergize. Opportunely renewal is not simply revitalize. It is closely tied to growth…. read on.

The fastest most effective and productive way to sharpen, revitalize and reenergize is through the body. The body reacts to the mind and the mind reacts to daily stresses and demands of leadership—the stresses, responsibilities and irritations.

New research tells us that exercise has a profound affect on your brain chemistry, physiology and the ability for the brain to rewire itself. The ability to think is enhanced through exercise along with mood. You benefit from increased comfort level and composure in the face of uncertainty in our world.

This is well known. What is not as well known is that cortisol, testosterone and other hormones are released during exercise and they can prime you to be more assertive, confidant, and relaxed. At the same time, you will be less reactive to stress and more likely to handle pressure situations well. In other words, the correct hormone levels can make you feel more confident and less stressed.

The double benefit of a fitness pursuit is as you sharpen and revitalize yourself you also grow.

As you develop your cardiovascular system, you also develop your discipline. As you developed your strength, you increase you resiliency and perseverance. As you toil through starting out and moving into a long-term fitness commitment you develop your ability to persist until breakthrough.

And as you hold yourself accountable and keep promises to yourself your self-esteem will grow and subsequently your confidence will increase exponentially.

“The physical state of our bodies can either serve or subvert the quest to create genius.”
