While traveling in Washington, DC last week I rode in 5 different cabs. A few of the drivers moseyed along as though they were attempting to chew the clock up, others used Decisive Action to get their mission accomplished.
Two drivers were doggedly decisive. They were out in front of everyone else when the light turned green. They made left turns just a split second before the green arrow showed. When the lanes were closed with short notice they shot out in front and moved over ahead of everyone.
These drivers used decisive action to create success of the situation. In DC if you dawdle you fall behind. There are no handouts. No one will give it to you. You have to take it!
The same is true for leadership, business and life. No one is going to wait for you to “be ready” for a leadership role, the high-end client or the new house.
The good news is the only thing you have to be ready for is decisive action. Jump headfirst and develop your wings as you go.
