It’s easy to talk about how the situation is hopeless, how things aren’t what they used to be. And how these new, unprecedented and especially difficult times are holding you back. Remember, Productivity happened during some severely challenging times.
It takes more effort to look at the facts and remember that stressors, uncertainty and anxiety were actually catalysts of productivity and some pretty amazing progress.
Productivity and Thriving
There are companies still thriving today that were started during some of the most stressful times and severe downturns in the economy.
- Proctor and Gamble and General Electric were started during the Panic of 1873.
- IBM was started during the Great Depression.
- William Durant started General Motors during the Panic of 1907.
These are examples of prodigious success born out of a time when at least for some, the status quo just wouldn’t do.
Perspective is personal. Beliefs are merely beliefs! We can spin ourselves in despair or triumph depending on our perspective.
Thoughts are the grandfather of action. Just imagine what Proctor and Gamble, General Electric, IBM and William Durant were thinking?
Hang in there and stay the course. Be one of those people who think “more;” who will not accept the status quo. Be one of the ones destined to change the world—yours and ours!
